Applicants are expected to

  • pass BKSB initial assessments in English and Mathematics and should be able to demonstrate they can read and write at Level 2 standard (equivalent to GCSE English Grade C)
  • or have successfuly completed a level 2 course.

All applicants must provide a reference at interview.
If you do not have maths GCSE at grade C or above you will be required to study this in your own time. GCSE classes take place at the college.

Course overview:

The subject areas are directly related to preparing students for a Health and Social Care degree, such as Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Psychology or Sociology. There are also broader subject areas included in Study Skills, such as communication skills, writing Standard English, to help Level 3 students prepare for a degree level course.

The programme is taught through a variety of lectures, group discussions, laboratory demonstrations, groups and independent presentations. To be awarded the Access to Higher Education Diploma, learners must achieve a total of 60 credits to comprising of:
