COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Epping Forest College serves a range of communities and places particular importance on making its resources available to the benefit of the local community. As part of the campus redevelopment, Essex County Council were keen to integrate the local library into the College foyer and visitors can also take advantage of the adjacent refectory and directly access information and guidance about courses on offer. The hair and beauty depart also offer discounted treatments to local residents and evening leisure courses attract students from across the local community.

As well as the facilities on offer to the local authorities, other organisations have also utilised the College’s facilities to host a range of high-profile events from council meetings webcast from the board room, to Debden Community Day held in the College building and grounds. The Theatre is also a popular venue for events and hosting all kinds of performances and ceremonies such as the West Essex Partnership Schools Awards. As well as supporting the actual event, Debden Day organisers have used the College’s facilities to produce posters and leaflets and the College building has been used as a changing room for performers.

The College also plays an active role in supporting the local community and has representatives on the local Neighbourhood Action Panel, the Safer Communities Partnership and the One Epping Forest, the local strategic partnership. On the education side, the College is a member of the local schools consortium and hosts meetings of the local heads. The College has also involved local schools Davenant and West Hatch in its very successful IT-based MoLeNET project and continues to host the CareersFest for all local schools. As part of FESCO Federation of Schools – sports students work with local schools offering coaching.
