SAFEGUARDING
Epping Forest College takes seriously its responsibilities to safeguard and
promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults by
providing a safe learning environment and ensuring adequate arrangements
within the College to identify, assess and support those young people or
vulnerable adults suffering or at risk or significant harm.
Safeguarding awareness and training takes place for all staff to ensure they
understand the different aspects of safeguarding, are able to identify and
report possible causes and are competent to assess and support those at
risk. These procedures have been developed with regard to Local Authority
guidance and with the Essex Safeguarding Children Board and the Adult
Safeguarding Board.
The Principal is responsible to the Governors for ensuring that the
safeguarding procedure is adhered to and that all those involved in its
implimentation are sufficiently trained and resourced. A senior manager
heads a team of Safeguarding Co-ordinators designated to respond to any
safeguarding issues. Additionally the TM scheme gives anyone with a problem,
a guide to the places around the campus they can find support and access to
the resources of the safeguarding team. See the panel below for the details
and instructions given to all staff around the TM symbol and what it means.
